Could be a few beginners there so probably cling to cap it at 1200 pts.

Missions will be Dust Up, Surrounded and Counterattack as I think these will be the speediest.

If you have beginners 1000 pts isnt a bad idea, as there are not as many things to worry about on the board. And games go pretty quickly at 1000 points

Unless you have 2 russian infantry companies facing each other

I would certainly be interested and I am sure some of the PMGG players would be as well. I had been thinking of running one as well but work has been so busy lately

That's great, well it will be in a month or two, so I'll get a players pack sorted and get back to y'all. Should be fun.

What's the minimum for a panther company? I'd set the value 100 point short of that ;)

Seriously though, if its a beginners event, less points and more games gets my vote.

Even tigers in midwar is just to points costly. May have to spam Panzer IV's and Panzer III's

It's going to be 1200. So far we have Brit motor company , Sicilians fucilieri, Soviets unknown company, Hungarians , German grenadiers, german fallschirmjager. American infantry hopefully , possibly a panzer grenadier force too. So it's a pretty good spread.

It's not really a beginners tourney there's just a couple of beginners playing.

Quick question. Would you let me run a proxy list as long as it was an actual FOW list? I have a 15mm Japanese army that I need to paint and I have been toying with the idea of using it as a guards Strelkovy or Italian list as they both get semi close in flavor. So essentially I will be fielding a strelkovy or Italian list it will just have different figures.

Cheers Neil

Sure, I think it would be awesome to see. I'm sure our players would too.

Strelk would be the closest eh?

Both match in some ways:
Both have large platoon (company style structures) with integral support weapons and both have advantages as to how you see the Japanese operating on the table.
Pros for the Russians:
 Fearless
 Quality of Quantity
 Infiltration
 Pioneers being able to attach to units make good tank hunters
Negatives for the Russians:
 No smoke, From my reading the Japanese did use it
 Commissars don't really fit in but their morale bonus does

Pros for the Italians
 Random skill levels certainly gives flavor that as the war progressed the Japanese lost a lot of their veterans
 Avanti encourages the Japanese to close to assault range quickly
 Unknown hero very fitting
 Equipment: the Brixia is a very good match for the Knee mortar and many of the other bits and pieces of Italian stuff tie in nicely
Negatives for the Italians
 Morale will not be Fearless very often which does not really match with the common perception of the Japanese

A negative for both is no Night attack rule which should almost certainly be included in the Japanese. The only way to get that would be base them on a Common wealth force but the structure is not really suited

There is no perfect fit and a lot of people have some very different views on how the Japanese should be represented, but the Italians and Russians do give you some flavorsome choices
