That's my concern too. It's all well and good to officially support them again, but unless they make an effort to update the rules then I'm just not interested. I know BFG, Necromunda and Mordheim could do with a serious polish. I don't know enough about the rest but Epic and Bloodbowl could be a disaster if GW ignores or clamps down on the community-maintained rulesets.
Necromunda too has a community rule set that does a pretty decent job. Still has that 3rd ed feel to it.

Bloodbowl world cup had over 900 coaches. Try to convince them the rules need "fixing". ;)
Nobody has said anything about "fixing" any of these games or even what they'll be doing specifically within this specialist division.

I for one would welcome any of these games being updated and introduced to a new generation

I wasn't aware that there was an active community ruleset for Necromunda. Last I checked, the rules were fine but not ideal. Especially for my favorite Gang - the Scavvies. :(

As for Blood Bowl, I very consciously excluded that one from the games I listed as needing an update. I may not play the game, but I don't exactly live under a rock. ;)

Fingers crossed they print the old Warhammer Historical rules as well.

@Rathnard: I haven't looked hard at Necromunda rules since around January but I know folks were reworking the Community Edition for Outlanders.

@DangerRod: I'm more concerned with the Age of Sigmar treatment being applied.

Seems this has been confirmed by GW on their app, and Facebook.

Cease and Desist orders are being issued. Merry Christmas from GW.

By Thor that was quick, it's started already. My buddy just posted me this. Trolls Under The Bridge, a really, really small company who do some fantastic 6mm Epic stuff ...

... have been hit with a Cease and Desist Order by Games Workshop for their 6mm Sci-Fi Infantry and Vehicles.

Also rumour of the return of ... Wait for it.... WHFB 8th Ed

FWIW this looks like trolling though ;)

At first I thought it was fake, but the part on AOS convinced me it's real...

BFG is one of the best systems I have ever played. Some minor issues in the lists, but the community had fixed most of them. If it's just a re-edit of the mini and they don't touch the rules then I'm happy.

But most likely it will be standalone limited edition games going for $250-$300 a pop, like Horus Heresy.

Also, lol at "Specialist Product Design Studio"

I seriously doubt they would do that (again) to any specialist games. This is the team that developed the Assissin board game and the Betrayal at Calth heresy board game. Both fairly decent stand alone games.

They've been setup with the Forgeworld design studio, so expect some new sculpts and rules....but not before 2018!

Well the first big rumour is that theyll probably port epic and bfg into the 30k setting too.... which sounds pretty spectacular

Dunno...I smell a cash-grab attempt. Probably a follow-up from HH/30K release.

"Hey look...30K is a success...let's release the Epic and BFG version of 30K while they still like it"

Pretty sure the 2nd poster is trolling. Probably sarcastic response to the 1st poster.

Releasing things that people want to buy isnt a 'cash grab' its 'business'.

Am I the only one that is at best indifferent to GW taking an interest in Specialist games range and at worst actually hostile to it?

The community has been going so well with writing rules etc that arent based on selling new sculps etc. i dont want to see the balance etc ruined by gw corp like they did with fantasy and 40k.

To me GW are like an Ex that tries to show some interest after you realise you are happier apart. Too late GW.

its not necessarily a bad thing that GW are bringing these games back.

My biggest concern is that they will try and rewrite the rules with too many large scale changes , effectivley ruining what the gaming community has done in thier (self imposed) exile.

Would also be a shame to loose the variety of models and model makers that support some of these more "niche" games sytems. having recently returned to blood bowl in particular myself, i was impressed by the variety of different models out there for most teams, and it seems that 90% of teams taking to the field are not GW minis anymore.

If they go and slap cease and desists on everyone making alternate models, that would be a great lose to the gaming community

It's much harder to shut down Fantasy Football makers rather than a guy that does blatant copies of GW models. I think you'll be fine.

Have a look at this all you HYPE slayers!
http://natfka.blogspot.com.au/2015/11/a ... w.html?m=1
It explains a lot of your "fake" thoughts and gives some more info.
Such as the poster that's been going about was created by a GW store manager and not the Marketing Team. It wasn't suppose to spread around the globe.
