I'll just continue enjoying my hobby the way I want.

Cheers.

By all means, apologies if it seemed I intended otherwise. My only intent was to mention a personal gripe, nothing more. Again, apologies.

Nah, its 17 skull cannons for the win. My army's theme is the grand artillery train of khorne. Its a mono-god no magic army, must be soft as!
Pffft. Whatever. Clearly the softest army out there will be my 28 tunnelling Stormfiends. I wont even be putting a single model on the table during the Deployment phase! Obviously im going to get out-deployed in every game. :P

11 Hellcannons fit into a 2400pt list.

Would anyone ever actually bring 7 k'daii destroyers or 20 steam tanks to any game, casual or otherwise?

40k has the same thing and I've never seen anyone turn up with 10 wraithknights or 20 leman russes.

I have only ever seen 1 unbound list actually used - it consisted of fenrisian wolves and thunderwolves - a list designed purely to be fluffy.

Yes the new way of designing your army could be abused, but I think it is more likely that fluffy lists will be made.

In any case you could always just not use this new rule.

Oh. I see what you did there.

I think Alex Danaford hit the nail on the head here. While the potential is there to create something ridiculous, in reality it will happen only rarely. And I've no doubt that if someone did decide to take such a list, it would be after discussing it with their opponent.

Telling stories is a wonderful thing with Warhammer. But even our made up stories would still need to be contained within the fluff perimeters - eg, not 20 steam tanks.
you never know, someone might want to do a "what if" style army, in this case "what if the Empire was able to mass produce steam tanks production line style"

i wouldn't be so quick to judge someones hobby.

but I cant imagine 20 steam tanks being fun to play or fun as a hobby project and probably not worth the monetary outlay. also wouldnt it be like 4000pts or something?

Again, apologies, did not intend to judge. Just a fan of limiting things to the fluff. And no, 20 steam tanks would not be fun to play with, or against, to the point that a person who seriously considers taking 20 in an army under (let's just say) 30,000 points is probably the kind of person I don't want to have a 'fun' game with
