After hitting F5 to the point of RSI, it has arrived.

That it is ! AND WOW.

What are everyones thoughts on the new rules?

My overwhelming first impressions are that they've put a hell of a lot of time and effort in to the release. There is also a new mobile phone army builder page on the page above, highly recommend you having a look. It will let you build your list via mobile and play it, tracking orders and command tokens in game.

From a Tohaa perspective, the two-man fire team gives a bit of flexibility when your 3-man link leader inevitably gets crit'd in ARO. The re-write of the symbio armor (it doesn't just kill you outright when you fail a special ammo: fire armor save now!) is also a nice buff, as it just burns the armor off... leaving you at inactive armor state (assuming you then pass the subsequent roll). That combined with symbiomates will make the Gorgos more inclusive now.

The new Bio-sensors and Phermonic ammunition type are pretty snazzy. The re-write of hacking devices (white device is the new advanced defensive hacking device, now also allowed for Kamael) is neat - will need to check in comparison to the N3 rules as to how it meshes.

On the army builder side of the house, there are also a bunch of new Tohaa toys that have crept on to the army builder 5 website.

I'm looking at YOU Sukeul Commandos (full Ch: mimetism, stealth, symbio-armored fireteam) and the Symbiobugs of the Taqeul officers (krazy koala's with pheromonic ammo that have superjump and climbing plus when they boost)!

Holy crap (you will need to click through to see their skills and equipment, but damn - finally a K1 sniper rifle!):

What other toys and fixes have you guys found? There is so much in there.

Well it is a sad day for the Shasvastii, as they were somehow forgotten in this book rules wise at least (I haven't read the fluff yet). To explain this I shall point out at the moment seed soldiers, aswangs, cadmus, Sheskin, and Caliban aren't legal for play due to someone not updating the rules for seed-embryo and stringa, which makes me sad as the Shas have been gutted.

On the other hand, Morats have some interesting choices now with more link teams because that's a good thing. So having a link team of engineers is a thing, Kornak is even better (despite you need him for Sogarat link now), Raktorak are now specialists (because having something that can hide in another link and do things is boss), and that you can run multiple Ozats in the same group. Overall this is good given more options for list building and how you want the list to work, also makes it easier to include specialists in the force.

Ajax looks like a beast now, needing a 10+ to crit with a damage 17 exp cc weapon.

Yeah, I've really been enjoying reading up on all of the new rules and playing around with some new army lists.

I agree with you Sam that the Tohaa have got some nice new buffs / new profiles.

Things that I really like (from a Tohaa perspective) include:

1) Addition of a FO Sakiel option for 19 points. While 6 points more than the FO Kamael the additional wound you get with symbiont armour, as well as +1 to BS and +1 Armour will probably start making this profile one of my common specialist fillers

2) Symbiomates got better

3) Symbiont Armour got better

4) Kaeltar specialists gained fireteam triad

5) Rasails got cheaper

6) Awesome new profile in Sukuel Commandos (especially like the K1 combi FO options with D charges, as well as the K1 sniper and ML profiles). Hopefully we get a box of 4 models before the year is out! Can see the K1 sniper and ML options being great as a defensive link with a Gao-Rael or Kamael Sniper

7) Igao got much better in CC

Was a little disappointed that Bolts didn't get Harris though in NCA.

With regards to the Shasvastii Jarrod you certinaly got unlucky with them being left out of HSN3 altogether. From what I've heard they have done this on purpose as they want to redo the line and bring out some new resculpts in future (which would be cool!). On the most recent Mayacast episode they asked Carlos about what to do with the rules for seed embryo and I'm pretty sure he advised just to continue to play using the previous rules.

An ouch, Ajax certainly is a beast with those CC numbers!
