It must still be a pretty good game for some people though as its very popular.
I really like it, because it scratches my WWII itch, it's not overly complicated and looks fairly awesome when playing. If I want a realistic squad based simulation, I'll bust out Advanced Squad Leader, which has served me well all these years.

I've just recently picked up Blitzkrieg Commander on Paul's (pbeccas) reccommendation, which looks like a good ruleset, plus Kampfgruppe from Warhammer Historical, which looks excessively detailed.

In any regards, I'm interested to see the new rules coming out.

Kampfgruppe has had some good reviews so its a option is it made for 20mm ? ive not played bkc yet but i do play cold war commander which is a good game i play this in 6mm but i know they convert well to other scales. I also like the look of command decision

I've been playing FOW for a good few years I have 4 different army's and none of them have more than 4 tanks in the, in fact I can beat most tank company's using my all infantry 101 airborne and if I don win its very close. Btw your issue with Panthers not bogging in game enough is a matter of terrain, it sounds to me that you need to change up your gaming table to add more depth, I'm not having a dig at anyone but genrealy if the tank has made it to the battle its fuel is not going to suddenly freeze.

Never heard of miniatures game that has rules like that. Advanced Squad Leader on the other hand...

You don't want to play it. Unless you love detail. Lots or detail.

Westgamer group member Jason has got me into the Combat Commander series from GMT Games. They are good. I have two sets now, Combat Commander Pacific, with the New Guinea expansion, and Combat Commander Mediterranean. I really rate the game if your into company level historical tactical battles.
