Another week has come and gone at TGA with a lot happening behind the scenes as well as at the two club locations. We are seeing a lot of new faces which is fantastic.

FRIDAY, 20TH JANUARY 2012 – TGA NORTH
Quote:
Friday Nights A-Kicking'...

Well with another weekend drawing to a near, a Friday night update is more than due. A decent turnout, but again the heat keeping people away from our air con rooms. A show of Fantasy & Malifaux seemed to be the games of choice, along side some Warmachine and even some Super Dungeon Explore.

Ivoryskull's Pathfinder campaign took a back seat this week, but is due for return this coming Friday, after the massive day that is Australia Day - TGA North is due to open for 12 massive hours, all beginning at 10 am.

See you there.
Thanks Ratt. :)

SUNDAY, 22ND JANUARY 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

Anyway, more Malifaux games were happening along side Blood Bowl, Warhammer…

Image

Image

Warmachine…

Image

…and Heavy Gear attracted some attention too as the ‘Grinding Gears 2012’ campaign continues.

Image

Image

Today we had the forces of Caprice and South mix it up. The Visigoth tank for the Southern Forces made itself known as a deadly machine and all the more nasty with a fantastic paint job. Those miniatures sure look pretty!

Lunch today was mega burgers, a favourite with many. Yum!

COMING UP

Image

TGA North open for twelve hours in air conditioned comfort on Australia Day? Hell yes!

As mentioned above TGA North will be open between 10:00am to 10:00pm for another of the hugely popular ‘Mega Marathon Day’ and we have lots of people already planning to meet up. Like last year, if you play it then you will find another who does too so come along and join in the fun. Our kiosk will have lots of frosty drinks, tempting chocolates, and other snacks. A lunch option is being looked into as well.

Image

For those of you who like your RPG action you may want to be a part of this opportunity:

Image

I can now announce as a special bonus at the 'Mega Marathon Day' we are fortunate enough to have a Perth representative for Piazo Publishing's 'Pathfinder Society' join us for our ‘RPG Game Master Session’, Callum Prior.

Image

On Golarion, the world of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, the Pathfinder Society is an organization of explorers, vagabonds, sages, and treasure hunters determined to plumb the depths of the darkest tombs, and collect relics and lore from bygone ages. Every member shares one common dream: to contribute to the Pathfinder Chronicles, printed editions of secret lore coveted by the Society wherein only the most impressive finds and bravest exploits of the Pathfinders are immortalized.

Pathfinders are a diverse bunch of scoundrels and wanderers. Their loyalties lie on all shores of the Inner Sea, and beyond their adventures as Pathfinders, they often find themselves mixed up in the murky politics of Absalom and the five nations who seek to control the City at the Center of the World from behind the scenes. The campaign centers on the sprawling city of Absalom, where five factions engage in a shadow war for control of the city's politics and economy.

In Pathfinder Society Organized Play, you play a member of the Pathfinder Society, seeking fortune and glory all over the face of Golarion. At the same time, your character works for one of the five competing nation-based factions, all with their own motivations and secret agendas.

Pathfinder Society Organized Play is a constantly evolving mega-campaign played by thousands of players and the adventures you experience are shared by players around the world. Play is organized into Seasons, throughout which the actions and achievements of you and your fellow Pathfinders create an ongoing storyline. Each season consists of at least 28 Pathfinder Society scenarios (short, 4-hour adventures) set in a variety of exotic locations across Golarion.

Excited? Of course you are!

Callum will be able to explain things in more detail but until then take a look at the official Piazo Organised Play website HERE and get your questions ready for when you meet him. As for the topics we will address head to the official announcement thread HERE to add any you would like to discuss in particular before the date. We already have some good ones, but I am sure you can think of some more. See you this Thursday!

Like 40K? Well then, you came to the right place!

Image

Players pack and ticket information now available HERE!

Get your lists in and be ready for an explosive weekend of 40K fun. Yeah!

AND FINALLY…

TGA Central will NOT be open next Sunday, 29th January 2012 due to the Higgins Park Tennis Club having a massive tennis tournament (and telling us at the last minute).

Please make sure you tell everyone you know so they do not rock up. Of course, there is always tennis if you are that way inclined so it would not be a total lose, right?

TGA – NOW THAT IS WHAT SHE SAID!

Looks that way does'nt it? No, in Blood Bowl it has become practise to turn your model 180 degress to remind that it has acted. Simple and it works.

THURSDAY, 26TH JANUARY 2012 – TGA NORTH

Image

TGA North was open for twelve hours in air conditioned comfort on Australia Day for another ‘Mega Marathon Day’.

One of the great events was a discussion about the expansion of RPG action at the club. Perth’s representative for Piazo Publishing's 'Pathfinder Society', Callum Prior, joined us for our ‘RPG Game Master Session’.

Image

Callum explained what he has been striving to achieve here in Perth and it is a great undertaking. Naturally, with two locations covering Friday and Sunday TGA is in a great position to offer Callum what he needs to finally kick things up a notch. With TGA’s unique style, great terrain, and numerous tables, RPG gaming is going to change in Perth for the better. We were not short of interested people at the discussion so I am expecting big things.

The official Piazo Organised Play website is HERE. As to what TGA will be able to offer RPG fans you can get involved in the various threads that will pop up at http://www.tgaperth.com.

SUNDAY, 29TH JANUARY 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

No club today as the Higgins Park Tennis Club was having a tournament. Next week will make up for it as we are open the whole weekend!

COMING UP

Image

Players pack and ticket information now available HERE!

Next weekend the madness begins as not only do we have a tournament for 40K but we are also starting up yet another campaign, this time for a club favourite.

Image

Head over to the official thread HERE to get the player pack and see what is new. Don’t forget the one day only specials to celebrate the launch:

Image

There has never been a better time to get into BattleTech.

FRIDAY, 3RD FEBRUARY 2012 – TGA NORTH

Image

The topic of the Pathfinder Society came up again over the evening with people making plans to join in the events that will soon be happening at TGA. During my Dragon Lance campaign there was affirming talk of building a miniatures collection for the specific goal of allowing Game Masters to have access to a variety of models for use in their campaigns. This alongside the tables and terrain TGA has will make for some impressive resources once complete.

SUNDAY, 5TH FEBRUARY 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

Image

Image

Two days of what proved to be a challenging single scenario with the majority of games literally coming down to the final turn.

Image

The armies were amazing with some quality work on painting and conversions.

Image

Image

Players were eager to mix it up over the two days.

Image

Image

There was a raffle on the day and lots of bits, sprues, and single models to buy all the weekend.

Image

The Lords of TGA enjoyed hosting this event and want to do it again soon as the feedback from players was positive. Well done to everyone involved, you are awesome!

Image

A third campaign kicked off at TGA Central today too, this time it was BattleTech. Players have chosen their starting planets on the giant Inner Sphere map we have on the wall and games will soon be underway.

If you want to learn to play this fantastic game then drop me a line so I can strap you into a BattleMech. 100 tons of pure destruction is yours, all you need to do is ask. Besides it would be good practise for one of TGA’s most popular BattleTech tournaments:

Image

The player pack will be up shortly so head over to the official thread HERE

COMING UP

Image

With what is arguably the most successful Malifaux campaign Perth has seen to date it makes sense that the same can be expected from the tournament to end it. ‘Bad Things Happen!’ is a 35 Soul Stone one day Fusion Initiative tournament focussing on fun and being challenged.

Players pack and ticket information now available HERE!

TGA – ENVIED BY MANY.

FRIDAY, 10TH FEBRUARY 2012 – TGA NORTH

Image

Blood Bowl, Warmachine and Heavy Gear all night long!

Image

TGA North will be hosting a Warmachine one night event. More info about this will be available soon.

SUNDAY, 12TH FEBRUARY 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

The games of Heavy Gear continued on Sunday too.

Image

There were a few more new faces at the club today.

Image

Image

Image

Image

There were new players looking to get into BattleTech with the intention of joining the campaign. More the merrier I say!

AND FINALLY

TGA Central is now the proud owner of a fantastic (and larger) display cabinet. In it we plan on having a whole bunch of goodies to buy as well as painted miniatures to ‘oooh’ and ‘ahhh’ over.

TGA – WE LOVE A SUSPENCEFUL ENDING...

…OR DO WE…?

FRIDAY, 17TH FEBRUARY 2012 – TGA NORTH

More action is my Adventures in Ergoth campaign.

Image

When I say action I also mean serious trouble for the party with the death of the party cleric and an urgent quest to bring him back before time runs out! Were they successful? Follow the official thread HERE to find out.

Image

More Heavy Gear as the CEF lead by Elias shows the Terra Nova Badlands forces of Goerg how Earth does it back home. A crushing victory, but Georg is learning quickly…

We also had some new faces at the club bringing over 20 new players this month alone.

SUNDAY, 19TH FEBRUARY 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

As always we had Blood Bowl, Heavy Gear, Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, BattleTech, hobby stuff, tournament discussions, AND a lunch to die for; fresh oven roast beef roll with gravy and a side of wedges.

Oh…My…God!

TGA – ‘AWESOME’ BY DEFAULT

FRIDAY, 2ND MARCH 2012 – TGA NORTH

Image

The topic of doing a podcast of one of the sessions at the club has been raised. Although people wander over and sit in on our game it has been suggested to let people be able to download and listen to everyone for a session much like the PAX D&D sessions or an audio only version of ‘I Hit It With My Axe!’. It would seem that TGA has some people in the business of doing that sort of thing so options are being looked at.

Follow the official thread HERE to keep up to date.

Image

We also had some of the new faces at the club return to try their hand at BattleTech. Naturally they were hooked so expect to see for people available for campaign games in the near future. We may need to look at a bigger map of the Inner Sphere as I don’t think one wall is going to cut it anymore…

I noticed some of the TGA Central regulars at TGA North for the first time as they admired the cabinets filled with painted models. As some of them are avid modellers it was like being in heaven. If you have not seen the TGA North club room then make a point to drop in and be amazed!

SUNDAY, 4TH MARCH 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

Had to delay the fitting of shelving to the new display cabinet, but it was still full of goodies to save you some serious money on hobby stuff and GW product in particular. We also had a day filled with Blood Bowl, Warhammer, BattleTech, the new Lord of The Rings, Warmachine, hobby stuff, and talk of next weeks tournament at TGA Central.

COMING UP

Next weekend the grounds at TGA Central will rumble with the clash of titans.

Image

The lists are in and all I can say is expect the unexpected as players fight for the right to claim the trophy. Anyone even remotely interested in BattleTech will want to see this event with all the painted miniatures and 3D terrain turning this board game into something truly spectacular.

Get ready!

AND FINALLY…

It is no secret that we at TGA love our hobby in all forms. With the mainstream games in full swing across both clubs it can sometimes be hard to see all the other little nuggets that are out there simply because people can’t be bothered taking a look. Gangfight! Games Studio is an up and coming tabletop games company that has released a free set of rules called ‘Blackwater Gulch’.

Image

Every town has a story, and every story has a beginning.

Old Man Cooter was both to the once quiet town of Blackwater Gulch. Sat under the shadow of Marble Mountain, his cabin was a ramshackle thing. It shook under a strong wind, groaning with each shake but like its owner it had stood against time and the elements. Just five miles out of town, Old Man Cooter had claimed there was gold both in the deep, fast flowing azure blue of the river after which the town was named, as well as in the caverns deep beneath Marble Mountain.

And he had been right.

The gold was found, and the killing began. Back then the little settlement was known simply as Victory Falls. Named after the azure blue of the river that ran down from Marble Mountain and out through the cliffs and canyons, giving life to the pine woods, Victory Falls was a haven for those that sought a new life.

It was only when Cooter came back from the mountain with the yellow rock that people began to flock to the shanty town. Almost overnight, gambling dens, brothels and storehouses sprang up as more and more people flocked from around the world to Victory Falls for their own greedy reasons. Gunslingers came to find a name, husslers to make more money. Hooligans and thugs, Outlaws and Fortune Seekers. The good were soon outnumbered by the bad.

The elite reside in Uptown, looking down from on high while below, in Downtown people fight for the scraps thrown to them. Years of mining have also affected the landscape. Just as the good people became tainted by the dregs of morality, so the waters of Victory Falls became infected by dirt and oil and so Blackwater Gulch was borne. With greed comes violence. With violence comes death, and death certainly walks the streets and back-alleys of Blackwater Gulch. There isn’t a day goes by that doesn’t end with a body in a box and a widows tears on the ground.

Law is afraid to walk Blackwater Gulch…

… are you?

Blackwater Gulch is a table-top hobby game where you and your friends collect small groups of finely detailed miniature men, and battle for fame and fortune in the Wild West. In the rules, you will find instructions for building your gang, additional special rules and stories to provide backgrounds and objectives for your games, and lists classic, historical weapons available to equip your gang members with.

Head over to the official thread HERE to see what TGA has planned for this great game in the near future.

TGA – GUNSLINGERS WELCOME.

I missed a week as I was crazy busy with all that is happening at TGA (and having the flu). Anyway, starting in April ‘Week In Review’ will change to ‘TGA In Review’, a periodic update (probably once a month) talking about what was, is, and will be happening at Perth’s best gaming club. Obviously if something ultra mega cool is going on (and when is it not at TGA?) then it will appear here.

FRIDAY, 16TH MARCH 2012 – TGA NORTH

Image

Another session, more heroic action! The party adventures to the Lusid silver mine in an attempt to find the giant threatening the miners. Follow the official thread HERE to find out what happens.

TGA North is having an increasing number of people enjoying the chance to just sit and paint their miniatures. With ample inspiration from all the painted model kits and projects in glass cabinets it’s no wonder.

SUNDAY, 11TH MARCH 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

TGA Central hosted another BattleTech tournament:

SUNDAY, 11TH MARCH 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

The fitting of shelving to the new display cabinet is done! Yay!

We will have pictures and a listing of what we have for those of you who have not already made the trek to see what goodies there are. If you are a fan of Games Workshop then I suggest you watch this post carefully because there are some items well below RRP. As all good things, if you wait you will miss out…

Image

TGA’s ‘Rock ‘n’ Rumble’ Blood Bowl League was in full swing. Our resident Ginger Ninja was hopeful entering the fields but found Nuffle had indeed made him a target for pain. Luck has a tendency to return with interest to those who choose TGA!

COMING UP
Warhammer players have mustered their armies ready for ‘Eradication’, another fantastic tournament by one of Perth’s well known hobby enthusiasts, Nathan ‘Ratt’ Gall.

This coming weekend 24th and 25th March at TGA Central the club will not only have Warhammer but many tables free to play your regular games. As Saturday is a rare treat you should make an effort to free up your weekend and get in some game. As always lunch will be available along with our fantastic kiosk filled with snacks and drinks to power your way to victory.

Can’t wait!

AND FINALLY…

Image

Since announcing Blackwater Gulch at TGA, a new table-top hobby game set in the old Wild West we have had people painting miniatures, building terrain, and getting a posse together.

TGA – SHOOTING FROM THE HIP.

If it's models/hobby goods for sale, then please make sure that info goes in the Trading Post as per forum rules guys.

Cheers.

And so we say goodbye to another month in 2012 and the old format ‘Week In Review’ and welcome the first new ‘TGA In Review’, a periodic update (probably once a month) talking about what was, is, and will be happening at Perth’s best gaming club. Let’s not waste a moment because hot damn we have some stuff to cover! 8-)

Image

ERADICATION

Anyone who is a Warhammer Fantasy fan will know that Eradication, Elarti Games’ two day TGA Fusion Initiative tournament was a massive hit. While others enjoyed their various game systems the whirlwind in the middle of TGA Central’s main hall was Warhammer Fantasy all the way.

Image

ARCANE DESTRUCTION 4

Yes that’s right folks, in August one of Perth’s most iconic Warhammer Fantasy events is back for its fourth year. This time the points value is pumped to a very respectable 2000 points AND Storms Of Magic is now included as an option! So, not only do you have THREE choices of Arcane Disciple but expect your opponents to throw all manner of Fulcrums and beasts not normally seen on the battlefield.

Tickets for this extremely entertaining spin on Warhammer Fantasy are available now. With five tickets sold on the day of announcement it is looking to be one great day of gaming. We have a painting challenge at TGA from now until the tournament so keep an eye out about that too.

Image

BAD THINGS HAPPEN

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past two months you will know that Malifaux fans are all buzzing about this upcoming Malifaux tournament. With over 15 players taking part in the campaign at TGA Central this tournament is looking to be big. With no miniatures WYSIWYG/Brand restrictions, or having a painted crew to play you have complete freedom to take your favourite miniatures to this one. Get the player pack and do it quick because you only have a few weeks to get your tickets and submit your lists!

Image

GRINDING GEARS 2012

The campaign continues at TGA for Dream Pod 9’s fantastic skirmish scale mecha tabletop miniatures game. We now have four players closely matched points wise so the battles are bound to get more fierce. The campaign is due to end the same weekend TGA hosts Perth’s first ever Heavy Gear tournament:

Image

BORDER PATROL 2012

TGA North will host this fast paced three game tournament which will see a single combat group from each player do battle across a variety of Terra Nova’s locations in the form of custom built terrain.

Image

Speaking of custom terrain TGA has started a new club feature:

Image

PIMP MY TERRAIN

It's not just painting miniatures and playing in tournaments at TGA. Without the time and effort put into terrain we would all be playing on a flat table cloth, and that is just boring. So, what better to get the creative juices flowing than a bit of good old terrain building competition. Plus, this helps the club to expand the range of already awesome terrain to offer everyone who attends each week.

The first challenge is set to begin on Sunday, 16th April.

TGA SPECIAL GUEST: TOM WEBB, CEO OF STEEL CROWN PRODUCTIONS

In the second half of April 2012 TGA will host a visit from Tom Webb, CEO of Steel Crown Productions based out of the UK who make a fantastic range of high quality 6mm products and more recently 28mm scale as well. Tom will be making a special trip to TGA to speak with anyone interested in learning about the company, miniature fabrication, and also listening to ideas for new products that people would love to have but are not available. If you are interested in this then stay tuned here for the exact dates and get your ideas on paper so you don’t forget! WOW!

Image

TGA BATTLETECH CAMPAIGN 2012

A massive map of the Inner Sphere consisting of thousands of planets dominates a wall at TGA Central, and you can join in with those already carving out a realm for themselves.

Image

BattleTech by Catalyst Games Labs brings massive 12 metre tall humanoid engines of destruction to TGA with the help of myself and the extremely talented Adam ‘Tarinas’ Lacco, the only other Western Australian registered Catalyst Games Labs Demo Team Member.

Image

PATHFINDER SOCIETY - PERTH

As a special event for April Fools' Day, our newest best friends from the Perth Pathfinder Society hosted the very peculiar module 'We Be Goblins'. There was no need to bring a character for this one as pre-generated goblin characters were provided. Here is the background for the adventure:

The Licktoad goblins of Brinestump Marsh have stumbled upon a great treasure - fireworks! Yet unfortunately for them, the tribe member responsible for the discovery has already been exiled for the abhorrent crime of writing (which every goblin knows steals words from your head).

To remedy this situation, the Licktoads’ leader, His Mighty Girthness Chief Rendwattle Gutwad, has declared that the greatest heroes of the tribe must venture forth to retrieve the rest of the fireworks from a derelict ship stranded in the marsh. In order to prove themselves as the Licktoads’ bravest goblins, the PCs must complete a series of dangerous dares, from swallowing bull slugs and braving the dreaded Earbiter to dancing with Squealy Nord himself.

Yet even once they’ve proven their mettle, the adventure is just beginning. For the ship in question is far from uninhabited, and Vorka the cannibal goblin would like nothing better than a few tasty visitors....

Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblins cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!

Goblins race and goblins jump.
Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!

Chase the baby, catch the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,
We be goblins! You be food!

It was a great success!

Image

GAMES WORKSHOP CLEARANCE

Later this month TGA will announce a big day at TGA Central where we will have a bunch of Games Workshop boxed sets and blisters marked to clear. We will not be listing what is available as it is a ‘first come, first served’ gets the choice items kind of thing. We are almost done organising it all so keep an eye on the TGA forums to know when it is happening. Remember, each filled out Loyalty Card gets you a further $4.00 off per card which is even more fantastic value. Phwoar!

TGA – GET AMONGST IT!

It’s a funny club TGA. Quiet, then busy. A lot of people are just happy to come along and chill without even rolling a dice making for some great conversations. With June just around the corner TGA is going to be mega busy with all sorts of stuff happening.

TGA NORTH

The City of Bayswater council is making some proposed changes regarding the venue we hire out. This will be an ongoing thing for the short term so those attending TGA North will want to stay up to speed on the forums.

Effective immediately, TGA North will be closing at the earlier time of 9:30pm.

The TGA crew require 20mins to pack up so people are to be up and gone before this time to avoid any complaints.

Now that this annoying part is over let’s get down to the fun stuff!

Image

BORDER PATROL 2012

We met. We fought. We made MANY tactical errors. We DID have fun though! ‘Border Patrol 2012’ was not a large event, but all those who took part learned something new about the game so it was worthwhile. Well done to George ‘Baxter’ Baxter who showed us how to die to hover tanks. Below are some pictures from the night at TGA North.

Image

The next Heavy Gear Blitz tournament will be at TGA Central later in the year. A full 1,000 Threat Value using all the standard rules so expect to see some pretty amazing battles.

Just FYI, it will cost you about $130.00 for everything you need to play a faction of Heavy Gear Blitz. If you want to play then talk to me and I will steer you in the right direction to make it happen.

Image

GRINDING GEARS 2012

The campaign restarts at TGA for Dream Pod 9’s Heavy Gear Blitz. No longer do you have to be present at a particular time to issue orders as players now battle to earn counters. Play whenever you like at the club and enjoy the added freedom of not having to choose one system over another.

Head over to the official thread HERE.

Image

PIMP MY TERRAIN

At the end of May the five people who took home a basic western style wooden building kit each will return to show off what I am sure will be a collection of terrain to help make a very impressive 3’x3’ table. One has already been completed and is sitting on display in one of TGA Central’s glass cabinets. Judging will be next weekend so head to the official thread at HERE to learn more of what this first challenge is all about and to see what the results are when they are done.

Once we have a table full of western style terrain it will be time to visit:

Image

Gangfight! Game Studio has been busy. Some of the miniatures from the concept art have had masters made up already. The Mexicans look amazing!

So, keep an eye out for demo days featuring the new terrain as the TGA crew take you back to the Old Wild West.

TGA SPECIAL GUEST: TOM WEBB, CEO OF STEEL CROWN PRODUCTIONS

Tom Webb, CEO of Steel Crown Productions and the hero to many who play Epic in Perth visited TGA Central. Tom took the time to play a game against Steve ‘Onyx’ Marr, the machine behind the unparalleled success of ‘Epic: Armageddon’ centred at TGA. Afterwards, Tom was kind enough to talk to a whole bunch of people regarding all aspects of what his company does.

Thanks from TGA Tom, and we hope to see you again soon!

DRAGONLANCE RETURNS!

After a break the campaign will continue once again in June as the party of brave adventurers return to Lusid.

There is another group that has started up for once a month at TGA Central who play another RPG:

More RPG games at TGA I say! MORE!

BLOOD BOWL

The SpeedBowl Cup is a 5 round “resurrection” style tournament which will enforce a time limit on turns. This should produce some fast paced fun games of Blood Bowl over the course of one day. The rules are designed to closely (but not exactly) reflect those used by the Southern Shrike Bowl. The winner of this tournament will qualify for selection to the Western Australia team for the Ausbowl State Championship in 2013.

PLEASE NOTE: Places are strictly limited! See the player pack for details.

LORD OF THE RINGS

LOTR Cup - Pelennor Fields Tournament

The 2012 Lord of the Rings Cup is a 1 day tournament open to players of all experience and skill levels.
This will be the first tournament in Western Australia to use the new LOTR:SBG Sourcebooks and everyone from new players to casual gamers to veterans are welcome to come along for a fantastic day of battling in Middle Earth. This year Everyone's invited!

Date: Sunday 17th June 2012

This will proudly be a TGA-Fusion event.

TGA Central, Higgins Park Tennis Club, on the Corner of Playfield & Devenish Streets
Cost: Just $15, or $10 for members of Club Westgamer or any other tabletop gaming club in Western Australia, to be paid to TGA on the day.

Army restrictions
• All armies must be chosen from the 5 LOTR sourcebooks, and no more than 800 points may be spent on any army
• There is no restriction on the amount of models in an army
• There is no restriction on the number of warbands
• Each army must have a chosen hero as its Leader as per the Sourcebooks. There is no restriction on which hero you may choose or equipment and upgrade options.
• There are no restrictions on models; forces can include all models in the Sourcebooks, including Gollum, Tom Bombadil or Goldberry
• There are no restrictions on Allies other than those in the Sourcebooks: Good vs Evil.
If it's in the rules, it's in the tournament.

WARHAMMER

TGA has yet another quality Fusion Initiative tournament for Warhammer. After months of preparation, Casey ‘Ratlady’, a long time player of the game and regular tournament goer was pleased to finally unveil her own first ever tournament - Axes & Allies!

DETAILS:

* 1500pts + 500pts of allies.
* TGA Central - Higgins Park Tennis Club on Playfield St, in East Victoria Park.
* A one day event – Sunday, 24th June 2012
* Cost is $25, to be paid on the day.

However, this tournament is not as straightforward as many would assume. Take this excerpt from the Players Pack for instance:

Axes & Allies will be a tournament with a twist! Instead of simply using one army for the tournament, you will be using two…and just to spice things up, you’ll be using them both at the same time! When writing your lists, you will be asked to mark them as your Primary Force and your Allied Force. The difference between the two is below:

The Primary Force:
The Primary Force will be an army consisting of a maximum of 1500pts, chosen from any Warhammer Armies book released on or prior to the 2nd of June. Armies contained within supplementary books (such as Storm of Chaos) may not be taken.

The Allied Force:
The Allied Force will be an army consisting of a maximum of 500pts, chosen from any Warhammer Armies book released on or prior to the 2nd of June. Armies contained within supplementary books (such as Storm of Chaos) may not be taken. The below are the hard-and-fast rules that you must abide by when creating your Allied Force:

1. 1+ character choice (either a Lord or Hero) to act as the Allied General.
2. You may spend up to 250pts on characters.
3. You may take a maximum of 3 of the same type of Special Choice, and 2 of the same type of Rare Choice.
4. You may take any combination of Lords, Heroes, Core, Special and Rare choices as you see fit. You may spend more than the usual recommendation of 25% on Rare Choices, more than the usual recommendation of 50% on Special Choices, etc. And yes, this also means that you do not have to meet a minimum core requirement. Provided that you follow the rules explained in points 1, 2 and 3, you may take what you like.

So if you want to take a High Elf army backed up by a horde of Chaos Knights, go for it! If you want to take a Daemon army supported by a trio of Empire Great Cannons, do it! If you want to take a Tomb Kings army that has been joined by a pair of Dark Elf Hydras, your will be done! The crazy combinations are entirely up to you!

It’s looking to be a real blast! :)

Wazza's Review - JULY!

Yep. Scotty Wazza visited TGA Central for a whole day of super-fun times.

To find out more, check out:
http://wazzashobbies.com/2012/07/19/str ... day-album/

Highlights

-Catching up with long lost gaming buddies.
-Chilling with Cam in the Kitchen. My good, the jokes were flying so fast, the LOL rate was at least 10lpm (Laughs per Minute)
-Good food. I mean sure, a hot dog doesn't come close to the good 'ol days of incredible culinary delights, but I'm sure Cam will get back to his better menu items soon...
-Wearing Cam's name badge for at least an hour before he noticed.
-Creating awesome catchphrases; "The Stein will be MINE!" and "TGA, if you have a gaming itch, we'll scratch it" and "boobies" (you know what I'm talking about, and if not, inside joke...)
-Dodgy Dealings! I honestly can't believe how much of my stuff I sold, and even better, how much more new hobby items I walked out with instead. I felt like I was stealing from them...
-Meeting Ratt's wife. All trash talk aside, I think our families will become good friends!
-Introducing other gamers to awesome products/ideas, such as The Army Painter!

And of course, Stryker's Holiday Album!!! (See link above!)

So there I was talking with everyone at TGA Central and I realised just how much has happened (and was about to happen) at the club. I don’t know if it is possible to overdose on the level of ‘awesome’ that exists at TGA, but I have noticed some who have tried. I tip my hat to you! :D

TGA NORTH

For those who don’t know TGA North is now open on Monday nights!

That’s right folks, except for the first Monday of each month you can now get your game on two nights a week at TGA North. Fantastic news as this gives us the chance to try out some new tournament/campaign ideas. We are also looking into some more terrain at TGA North to cater to the new systems that are appearing such as Fantasy Flight Games’ ‘Dust Warfare’ and ‘Black Water Gulch’ by Gangfight Games. As always painting and modelling is always happening at TGA North because the room oozes creativity and inspiration for such things as those who have visited the club will know.

’FEDERATION COMMANDER’ – BOOT CAMP

Klingons vs Federation was the order of the day as Adam ‘Tarinas’ Lacco showed people the ropes of this great game. Adam also provided miniatures produced by Wizkids Games to use instead of basic counters which really helped.

If you are a Star Trek fan then you will want to take a closer look at this game or is you have questions Adam is usually trolling the TGA forums (and the two club locations) so feel free to talk to him. He doesn’t bite…much. :D

GRINDING GEARS 2012

The campaign is over but people are still looking for casual games of this fast paced mecha style skirmish miniatures game. Head over to the official thread HERE and take a look for more info.

DRAGONLANCE CONTINUES!

Our heroes have fought giant ants and hordes of kobolds, negotiated with giants, and have struggled with cursed magical items and weapons. Even through all of this including me refusing to fudge dice rolls in their favour AND offers of bribes to kill some of them off so others can play the party are together. Incredible really considering what has transpired. I guess they really are heroes, but the dice gods can be fickle so the next session could prove the end for more than one of them…

’THE SPEEDBOWL CUP’ - BLOOD BOWL ‘FUSION INITIATIVE’

Joel 'Runejack' Brokaw ran the well received ‘SpeedBowl Cup’, a 5 round “resurrection” style tournament. The winner of this tournament qualified for selection to the Western Australia team for the Ausbowl State Championship in 2013!

If you want to play Blood Bowl then you should talk to Nathan ‘Ratt’ Gall, boss of TGA North who will set you up in TGA’s ‘Rock ‘n’ Rumble’ league. No waiting for an opponent and your team can grow. Brilliant! :D

Image

’BASE ATTACK 2012’ - BATTLETECH

BattleTech goes from strength the strength with another fun tournament at TGA Central. Run by myself players had a challenging scenario of smashing the enemy base while defending their own.

The game is addictive….so play it! :D

LORD OF THE RINGS

Sunday, 12th August 2012 at TGA Central witnessed a massive multiplayer game of Games Workshop’s ‘Lord of The Rings’ on a custom built board of Helm’s Deep!

Image

Image

Image

This amazing board has a permanent home at TGA Central now so for all you Lord of The Rings fans (or any fantasy system really) you are welcome to come down and play on this table. However to avoid disappointment book it in with the TGA crew first as these people will get preference.

WASMEx 2012

http://www.wasmex.org

September 1st and 2nd 2012 will again see TGA at this fantastic convention. If you enjoy your painting and modelling then this is THE place to be. TGA has been given a massive 16 foot x 6 foot table (almost 5 metres long) to use and we are going to use it the best way how; a massive game of ‘Warhammer 40K Apocalypse’, TGA style!

‘Apocalypse MEAG 3: The MEAG of Destiny’ as it has been titled is looking to be filled with troops, tanks, titans, and some completely random missions to send the players crazy!

Head to the official thread HERE to read about it and sign up.

NOTE: TGA Central will be open on the Sunday as usual. However, if you are into 40K this is one event you will not want to miss.

EVERYTHING ELSE

I have mentioned so much already but there is more!

- We have had ‘Epic:Armageddon’ tournaments, a campaign, and a mega battle.
- There have been games of ‘Warhammer 40K’ and ‘Warhammer Fantasy Battles’.
- Talk of another ‘Two Generals’ event was discussed again (it must have been popular to linger so long in people’s minds it would be a shame to not do it again based on this fact alone).
- TGA ‘Flames of War’ campaign is still going a head according to Ted ‘Teddles’ Withers.
- Our own Cameron ‘daexcitedgingerninja’ Sheridan celebrated his birthday (and is now old apparently).
- Georg ‘lastakado’ Malter and his wife have had their first child which has been claimed as the first ‘TGA baby’ (gotta train ‘em young ya’ know).
- TGA Central has been re-arranged to better accommodate all the tables we are now allowed to leave set up. No more packing up at night and stuff breaking! Yay!

And finally…

TGA – THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME.
