Wow, what a week! First up is Pathfinder and the adventures of our heroes.

FRIDAY, 14TH OCTOBER 2011 - TGA NORTH

Image

We return to the gnoll cave where things are starting to heat up.

The party bottles up the gnolls pouring out of the cave entrance and manages to win the battle in true heroic style. Venturing into the cave the group discover putrid conditions and gnawed humanoid bones littering the floors. The druid and her wolf decide to wait at the entrance while the rest of the party venture forth. Searching each section the group discover nothing but more stinking rooms carved out of the cave walls. Small passages the size of the gnome and kender which are used by the gnoll cubs hiding from the adult males reveals a section of the cave leading to a lower level.

Image

As the party descends another group of gnolls lies in wait. The battle is joined and the barbarian is knocked unconscious after being rushed. The kender unleashes with his fire magic enveloping the room in flame. Although some of the party are injured from the fire the gnolls are defeated.

This lower area is the quarters of an albino male gnoll who leads all the other familes that have allied with his. This information is given to the party after they discover a group of slaves forced to suffer under the cruel hand of the gnolls. Weak and sickly the slaves are excited at the prospect of freedom (and not being eaten) so the party decides to lead them out of the cave.

Image

Back at the entrance the druid is lucky enough to stumble across a wandering grick monster, but finds it’s extremely tough hide too much to handle. Retreating into the cave with the grick in hot pursuit the party is reunited and work together to kill it. With the final ingredient in their hands the party is ready to return to help the Red Robed Wizard from his nightmares.

But, the party have yet to meet the albino gnoll…

We had another big week at TGA thanks to the public holiday. Here is what happened:

FRIDAY, 28TH OCTOBER 2011 - TGA NORTH

TGA North was mobbed as we opened for 12 hours; 10:00am – 10:00pm. ‘Mega Marathon Day’ as it was dubbed saw 25+ gamers bash out their favourite games, including an Epic tournament, ‘Minigeddon’ which showcased some fantastic fully painted armies.

Here are pictures from the day:

Image

Image

Image

It was the first official Fleet battle in the BattleTech Campaign 2011. Space is empty and warship weapons fire a LONG way. Needless to say, warship combat is quick, brutal, and the damage is bloody expensive to fix! *sigh*

The campaign rules for next year were discussed some more and we are looking forward to seeing more people take part as it will be much simpler.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Considering the level of support this day had we will look at doing it again when the public holidays start rolling around next year.

We added more storage space in the form of a lockable cupboard assembled by our resident handyman Scotty ‘Chops’ which means the kiosk and terrain will start to get an upgrade over the next month. This is good because it would be good to get it up to the standard we have always wanted. 2012 is looking good for TGA North.

SUNDAY, 30TH OCTOBER 2011 – TGA CENTRAL

Strangely enough, TGA Central seemed like the poor brother to TGA North as far as numbers this week. People were coming and going all day but the look of surprise on people’s faces when they noticed the attendance being down was priceless. People are used to TGA being the happening place for gaming in Perth. Still, Blood Bowl and Malifaux were the most popular and games were happening all day.

Image

There were more games of Warhammer too.

Image

Image

The battle reports complete with pictures are coming hard and fast showing just how much people enjoy playing in TGA’s campaign. The Ginger Ninja is onto another winner I think. Kudos!

Image

Image

We have our first campaign board fitted to the wall (Scotty has been busy…) ready for the 2012 campaigns that will be starting. We plan on having FOUR boards along the back wall so people can play just about anything they want. They have a magnetic backing and we have a collection of maps ready to go complete with coloured magnetic counters. Excellent!

COMING UP

Next weekend is the first Saturday of November which means TGA Central is open all weekend. On Saturday we have:

Image

At first I was wondering if Warmachine players were going to get tired of playing in so many tournaments. Apparently not as you all have such addictive personalities to the game it seems. This is a big positive because it will mean that next week your generosity will help many people in Perth who are less fortunate. TGA looks forward to being a part of this great event.

AND FINALLY

Have a great idea for an event or tournament for your favourite game but don’t know how to make it a reality? Well TGA’s got your back with our Fusion Initiative program.

Image

In 2011 the TGA Fusion Initiative calendar had over a dozen events/tournaments which is truly amazing. This highlights the talent that exists in Perth and shows the support TGA is willing to offer. As we look to 2012 the program has already secured enough interest to DOUBLE the 2011 total, and TGA is ready.

But are you? Get your ideas on paper quick and talk to us before it’s too late as the calendar can fill up fast!

Image

Whatever you play, make it happen with TGA.

TGA – THE REAL REASON FOR PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

First weekend of November so it was a three day TGA bender baby! Here is what happened:

FRIDAY, 4TH NOVEMBER 2011 - TGA NORTH

No 10:00am – 10:00pm ‘Mega Marathon Day’ like last week much to everyone’s disappointment. Still, all the regular gaming people have come to enjoy were on the go so all was good.

Next week our band of heroes return for another session of Pathfinder!

Image

SATURDAY, 5TH NOVEMBER 2011 – TGA CENTRAL

Image

Foodmachine 2011 is here!

Pictures can be found elsewhere on this forum, but the amount of cans donated was extremely impressive considering the number of players. Head to the official Foodmachine 2011 thread to learn more.

SUNDAY, 6TH NOVEMBER 2011 – TGA CENTRAL

TGA Central was back to it’s usual busy self this week. We had some new faces all looking for a game, and they were not short of opponents.

Image

Image

It wasn’t just gaming either as some people enjoyed the opportunity to paint without the interruptions that can happen at home.

Image

Plus, the topic of choice for the day was the new Games Workshop Necrons Codex released this weekend.

Image

With a good old sausage sizzle to top off the day it was the end of a great weekend at TGA.

TGA – P.A.R.T…Y? – BECAUSE WE CAN!

Week got you down? Problems at home/work/school? TGA is the cure much to the relief of many, especially on Friday night at TGA North. Here is what happened:

FRIDAY, 11TH NOVEMBER 2011 - TGA NORTH

A good turn out for TGA North this week. The kiosk was loaded up with chocolate coated donuts much to the joy of those who were there.

Image

Another Pathfinder session and boy were the players eager to play! Makes me glad TGA embraced RPG’s.

Image

After fighting through the gnoll caves and freeing the prisoners the journey back to Lusid begins. Having a large portion of the prisoners in decrepit conditions from overworking the going was slow. If it was not for the thought of the albino gnoll capturing them all again the prisoners would have stayed put.

Within the group of prisoners was a human male called Ayus, a member of the Senate in Daltigoth. Ayus was travelling to Lusid when his caravan was attacked. His visit was to investigate alligations of corruption within the Lusid Town Guard which, if found true, could have serious consequences for Sir Denathor Uth Vrax, Lord of the region.

Forced to rest due to the state of the prisoners the group settled in for the night. The group was unaware they were being followed….

GNOLL AMBUSH!

Returning to find the cave ransacked and the prisoners gone, the albino gnoll flew into a fit of rage. To follow the tracks of such a large group of people was an easy task and during the second watch of the party the gnolls attacked.

Image

Sensing the fear from the prisoners sent one group of gnolls into a frenzy and they rushed forward to carve through Vrax and his adventuring allies. Meanwhile another group with bows emerged near the cleric and monk opening fire. The monk made his way to the protection of the trees only to see the cleric get pierced by the arrows through the neck and underarms knocking him prone, and unconscious!

One of the prisoners, a female half-elf stepped up to the party’s aid and unleashed magical fury in the form of Magic Missiles. This new member to the party was taken only a few days before the rescue at the caves.

Although in poor shape the party gained the upper hand and had almost dispatched the gnolls when suddenly…

THE ALBINO

Image

Panic spread through the prisoners at the sight of the albino gnoll and people ran in every direction to escape him. This massive brute of a gnoll charged through the forest propelled by his muscular legs and carried a massive axe. Those who had ranged weapons fired upon the albino as he closed on Vrax who promptly fell unconscious from a single blow from the beast.

The gnome was having mixed luck with her bow fire and only managed to wound the albino before being sent sprawling across the ground from its battle axe. The monk was next. Using his bare hands to face the albino the monk unloaded with a flurry of blows while the rest of the party frantically continued trying to bring him down with bow fire.

Image

Victory belonged to the party in the end. The albino was killed and the gnoll threat removed (as far as they knew). The rest of the night was uneventful and the following day the survivors limped into Lusid greeted by Arion, head of the town guard. Crime is on the increase and sightings of the one called ‘Darius’ are everywhere.

Meanwhile, the wizard Quivalin Avondale is near death, but thankfully the party was able to gather all the ingredients needed to create the potion that can save him. This potion will let others enter his dreams so he has help to defeat the creature that is slowly killing him. But, will the heroes help him, or will they let him die?

Find out next session.

SUNDAY, 13TH NOVEMBER 2011 – TGA CENTRAL

Games everywhere!

Image

Image

Mega awesome burgers for lunch which were approved by our resident food ‘Vortex Grenade’, Georg ‘lastakodo’.

Image

AND FINALLY

Firstly, we know how exhausting gaming with champions can be so we have begun the process of creating a separate room where all you heroes can just relax. TGA Central’s aptly named ‘Chill Out Zone’ will come complete with a comprehensive gaming book/novel library, painting area, lounge seating, internet wifi, music system, and fans/air-conditioning. Wow!

Secondly, there was a conversation which went something like this…

‘We need another fridge at TGA Central…’
‘Will this one do?’
‘Oh yeah, that will do nicely.’
‘Huzzah!’

TGA Central can now enjoy another upgrade to its already awesome kiosk. Now that we have a second fridge and freezer due to arrive next weekend look out for a greater range of treats just in time for summer.

TGA – ALL YOU NEED

Here is what happened this week at TGA:

FRIDAY, 18TH NOVEMBER 2011 - TGA NORTH

A good turn out for TGA North this week again. The Warmachine Journeyman league now makes its way to TGA where those players continue to collect, build, paint, and play more games.

Image

Wizkids has been working hard to re-introduce themselves to the gaming world. One product they have just launched is ‘Star Trek: Fleet Captains’ and it is lots of fun with some great ship miniatures included in the game.

Image

SUNDAY, 20TH NOVEMBER 2011 – TGA CENTRAL

More Warmachine, Malifaux, Blood Bowl, Epic…

Image

…Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, miniature painting/modelling, just everything was happening in the club. Steve ‘Onyx’ Marr had some fantastic news regarding Epic for me, but I will let him share it with the world when he is ready.

Image

There was a massive spectacle for the TGA BattleTech Campaign 2011. Adam ‘Tarinas’ Lacco of the Word of Blake was under pressure to defend Terra from my forces of the Lyran Alliance. It has taken all year but I managed to rampage across half of the massive Inner Sphere campaign map we have up on the wall at TGA Central. My reward was a single chance to take the cradle of mankind from the Word of Blake forces.

Here is the Word of Blake set to defend Terra complete with the dreaded Celestial Omni-Mech designs I have come to loath.

Image

Having cleared Adam’s fleets from the skies getting help to defend Terra was tricky leaving me with a full force advantage in numbers.

Image

Although I outnumbered the Word of Blake forces and had superior skilled pilots Adam had LOTS of long ranged high damage weapons like the gauss rifle and Clan Tech large pulse lasers. It was looking to be a great game!

Image

The Word of Blake forces were deemed not to have to follow the rules for Forced Withdrawal from the Total Warfare book considering the Home World is the last bastion. The Lyran Alliance forces still had this restriction as per normal, brave though they are!

It took a large part of the day with the field littered with mangled BattleMechs and vehicles from both sides. However, victory was to the invaders and Terra now flies the Lyran Alliance flag.

To prevent Adam ‘Tarinas’ Lacco from returning the orbiting First and Second Lyran Fleets found his secret compound in New Guinea and promptly levelled it!

Image

Better luck next year mate.

AND FINALLY

We have been slowly building up the TGA kiosk at both club locations based on feedback from people. Here we see some of TGA North…

Image

…and what is on offer at TGA Central.

Image

Speaking of TGA Central the ‘Chill Out Zone’ room continues to take form. We now have a stereo and the library grew a little bit more too. Even though we are still working on it people were excited enough to sit in there anyway which means we are on the right track.

TGA – WE WERE BORN READY!

Here is what happened this week at TGA:

FRIDAY, 25TH NOVEMBER 2011 - TGA NORTH

Exams are over and the club was bustling again this week. The Warmachine Journeyman League, games of Warhammer 40K, games of everything in fact were happening alongside the ever popular:

Image

The heroes decide that the wizard Quivalin Avondale was sure to die without their help. Making their way to his home they were lead to the rear courtyard. There, looking very worse for wear was the wizard laying beside a table with four potions on it.

Image

The party was informed that only this many of the party could enter the dream state and death within meant death in the real world. After prying the kender away from the table it was decided that the monk, cleric, barbarian, and Vrax would fight the beast. After imbuing the potions those chosen laid down on the grass watched over by the rest of the party.

THE BEAST

The dream state felt real to the heroes, but colours were faded and the air was thick with an unnatural fog which obscured vision past a point. They awoke in the centre of a village none of them recognised. The dwellings were completely empty, constructs of the mind of the wizard or the creature they were about to face. Meeting with Quivalin the beast revealed itself and the battle was joined!

Image

The size of a horse, this six legged creature looked like an emaciated panther with two long tentacles growing from its back ending with pads lined with large sharp hooks. Swift and with the ability to phase shift it closed on the heroes in a second!

A STRANGE REQUEST

Meanwhile, the rest of the party were surprised by a stranger’s voice coming from the courtyard edge. Appearing from the trees was a group of armed thugs headed by three people; a female human rogue by the name of Trea (and mentioned in a letter currently in the procession of the party), a male human rogue who introduces himself as ‘Darius’, and Sue-Anna DeMilon, sister to Vrax who has been searching for her since she left without a word to him. ‘Darius’ announces that they can all live if they surrender the druid’s wolf!

Image

The party is now in a real tough spot! Half are completely helpless as they fight a desperate battle against a beast in the dream state while the rest of the party risks having them killed if they fight.

Image

The druid will not lose her wolf flatly turning down the request touching off a flurry of magic and weapon blows. The thugs manage to wrestle the wolf down and place a collar around its neck causing it to calm. Sue-Anna casts a spell to trap the druid as the thugs lead the wolf away. Unwilling to leave the members of the group in the dream undefended the party chooses to wait. The druid would have run off on her own but she was unable to free herself and instead hurls insults.

Image

VICTORY!

The beast in the dream is defeated! The fog begins to roll in towards the group who see visions in it of druids throughout Ergoth losing their animal companions; all just walking away leaving the druids in despair. Unsure what it means for the future the party is reunited in the real world where fires have broken out due to the kender letting lose with fire magic (a classic example of why wizards are horrified of the thought a kender should ever pass the Test of High Sorcery!).

A desperate chase begins to catch up with the thugs. The druid shows a new ability she has gained by turning into a hawk and flying at speed through the woods. Moving much faster than the party she leaves them behind only to engage the thugs on her own. Enraged at the thought of her wolf coming to harm, she takes on the entire group alone. It was suicide…

Beaten to an inch of her life the thugs leave heading away from Lusid on horse back. The heroes catch up to the druid who has sunken into a state of depression. Vrax, upon hearing his sister was part of the group, suggests they return to town and get horses of their own. The letter is the only lead they have as to where ‘Darius’ is heading and following on foot would be too slow.

Image

Level up as a reward for a job well done. The next session should be interesting.

SUNDAY, 27TH NOVEMBER 2011 – TGA CENTRAL

A picture is worth a thousand words they say so here we go:

Image

Image

Image

Image

All washed down with some asian style cooking of rice and barbequed meat balls just for something different for lunch.

Image

AND FINALLY

Some nice thick curtains went up today at TGA Central covering the main hall window. This will make a difference in summer for those playing next to it. Things are really coming together now.

TGA – ASIAN FOOD FOR LUNCH THAT 'WOKS'

Here is the final post for 2011 of TGA’s ‘Week In Review’. Let’s see what happened this week:

FRIDAY, 2ND DECEMBER 2011 - TGA NORTH

It was the official handover of TGA North’s keys to non other than Nathan ‘Ratt’ Gall and his wife Heather ‘Tygalili’. Their support and friendship to not just the TGA Lords but also the regulars has been much appreciated. Some of the first changes the pair implemented in the form of seating arrangements were obvious to those who were there on Friday.

Negotiations are well underway to get some serious fun happening at the club so stay tuned to this thread in the New Year to find out more.

Go Team Gall!

SATURDAY, 3RD DECEMBER 2011 – TGA CENTRAL

TGA Central has enjoyed a great run being open the first Saturday of the month giving people the opportunity to play some REALLY big games over the whole weekend. However, with the Higgins Park Tennis Club gearing up for a summer of tennis on Saturdays we are stopping it.

SUNDAY, 4TH DECEMBER 2011 – TGA CENTRAL

Image

Heavy Gear rocked the hall once more as people played games ready for next years campaign.

Image

Image

There was Malifaux, Epic, Blood Bowl in the form of the Rock ‘n’ Rumble Grand Final, Starcraft: the board game, and War at Sea.

Image

All manner of things were being built, modified, painted, etc in the Chillout Zone room. Here we see a goblin being the test subject for the purple that will be used for a Space Marine force set during the Horus Heresy. You can read more about this massive TGA project HERE.

Image

AND FINALLY

Feedback from people at TGA Central regarding the curtains and heat from the massive windows they now cover; all is good with a substantial drop in temperature to the main hall. Awesome!

To all of those who have taken the time to read this thread I wish you well leading up to the holiday season and look forward to updating you all again next year.

TGA – YOU’RE DOING IT RIGHT!

TGA’s ‘Week In Review’ is back in 2012 baby!

Image

I would like to take this time to wish everyone a great beginning to the year and I hope to see you all at TGA soon. Now, let me tell you about what is happening starting Friday, 6th January 2012.

TGA NORTH

After the holiday season our heroes will be back to saving Ansalon from those crazy Chemosh followers.

Image

Nathan ‘Ratt’ Gall and his wife Heather ‘Tygalili’ have been hard at work negotiating with just about everyone to get a fantastic line up of events, tournaments, and fun campaigns at TGA North. Every so often you will see posts on this thread by Ratt himself keeping us all up to date as to what is happening so look forward to that.

TGA CENTRAL

Sunday, 8th January 2012 TGA Central is going to be nothing short of gaming heaven.

At our first weekend open in 2012 we are launching TWO campaigns as part of the Fusion Initiative!

Image

Dream Pod 9 gets some lovin’ as TGA cranks Heavy Gear to ‘Top Speed’!

Image

A three month campaign which will end in a tournament? Oh yeah! Malifaux as it was meant to be played.

Both campaigns have a map mounted on the walls of TGA Central so players can track their progress.

Image

And that’s not all. Infinity, the game of squad based combat is here!

Image

Jramsdale (Jarrod), Simon ‘Hutch’, and Brett ‘Bokke66’ have been planning to promote the fantastic game that is Infinity in Perth and TGA was eager to help them.

Image

There will be multiple demo tables of this game running so head on down and ‘Get Amongst It’ with us.

TGA - WELCOME TO 2012!

We called it. We said it would a great first week back at TGA to kick off 2012.

We were right, and here is why:

FRIDAY, 6TH JANUARY 2012 – TGA NORTH

For something different I will let the awesome Nathan ‘Ratt’ who is the mastermind behind the current happenings at TGA North tell you all about what happened this week. If we are really nice he may even tell us what is on the near horizon so get those dice warmed up.

Image

For those interested in what is happening in the land of Ansalon you can see what our heroes have been up to at anytime by going to my official Dragon Lance Campaign thread HERE. You can bet they are in trouble though…

SUNDAY, 8TH JANUARY 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

It was busy, and understandably so. War at Sea, Malifaux, Infinity, Blood Bowl, Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, Warmachine/Hordes, campaigns AND special games of note. Woah!

Image

TGA’s ‘Grinding Gears 2012’ Heavy Gear campaign kicks off.

Image

The players have chosen their areas of Terra Nova to defend and the forces are moving.

Image

Yep, complete with a map! Each campaign turn is two weeks so opposing players with markers in the same square are going to battle it out. http://www.tgaperth.com has more!

Image

Malifaux is here!

Image

Players wasted no time getting into it as the campaign organiser, Jack ‘J4CK’ Lagdon, offered advice and help to those not so experienced in the game.

This is going to be awesome fun over the next few months so if you are interested just head over to TGA and get involved.

Infinity anyone?

Jramsdale (Jarrod), Simon ‘Hutch’, and Brett ‘Bokke66’ pulled out all the stops spending the entire day running multiple tables of this fantastic game.

If you missed it at TGA Central then great news as TGA North will have it featured in the near future. After today’s response do not be surprised if it is a packed event.

More? Ok!

Warmachine and Hordes players with some great painted forces to grace our tables.

(I hope NWS knows how lucky it is to have such a dedicated bunch of players...)

Along side games of Epic:Armageddon we had demonstration games of Soda Pop Miniatures worldwide phenomenon; ‘Super Dungeon Explore’. Fan of the 80’s cult hit arcade game ‘Gauntlet’? Then this is for you!

With the kiosk firing up Chiko Rolls and bags of beer battered fries for lunch the day was nothing short of awesome. We are back for 2012!

COMING UP

Not only that, but we are mad keen gamers too which is why TGA North will be holding another of the now legendary ‘Mega Marathon Day’ on Australia Day. That’s right folks, TGA North is open from 10:00am to 10:00pm to help you really master those dice rolling skills.

One of the events we have planned is a casual yet extremely helpful meeting of the minds about RPG gaming. All sorts of topics will be discussed including expanding the hobby at TGA considering the response we have had so far. Head to the official announcement thread HERE and get involved in the discussion if you are interested in RPG gaming at TGA. We really do want to see you there.

TGA – THANK THE GODS WE’RE BACK IN 2012!

Another week has come and gone at TGA:

FRIDAY, 13TH JANUARY 2012 – TGA NORTH

OooooOOOooOOOooo!!…Friday the 13th! Traditionally thought to be unlucky, and when it came to some of the dice rolls at TGA North, it was true. Still, the tables were filled with some first time (or near first time) players of various games, one being Warhammer:

Image

Games of Warmachine and also talk of getting the club officially up and running with Privateer Press in earnest. Emails have been sent so once that is sorted we will have more awesome to offer all you Warmachine/Hordes players.

SUNDAY, 15TH JANUARY 2012 – TGA CENTRAL

Warhammer was big today with Storms of Magic a feature. We also had Heavy Gear.

Image

The first games of this campaign were underway! Peace River had a taste of the Black Talons who showed them why they are considered the best there is. A lot was learned from just that one game and everyone is looking forward to more.

Image

Malifaux was there too. Players were eager to expand their territories with lots of games.

COMING UP

Next weekend at TGA Central after 2pm a large tables worth of Games Workshop related models, blisters, paints, sprues, and kit bashing accessories will again go on sale after today’s surprise offering to those who showed up to TGA Central.

Image

Adam is leaving for Melbourne and wants to do one more thing for Perth’s gamers by offering up his collection. He can’t take it with him and knows that TGA is the place to find people who could use it.

Image

Make an offer on what may interest you and don't be shy to haggle; Adam wants to sell and help you all out. To give you an idea I nabbed a mint condition copy of the Limited Edition Space Hulk game complete for $30!

Image

There are a few items from Forge World from what I remember. Multiple Space Marine Dreadnoughts from as low as $10 each fully assembled and ready to paint. I also noticed Warhammer Chaos Warriors (plastic) and Chaos Knights (older metal ones), Space Marine squads galore, plus vehicle upgrade sprues.

Image

Remember that TGA Central also has some stock for sale so be sure to check that out too.

Image

I love Australia Day and you will too if you attend TGA North which is open from 10:00am to 10:00pm for another ‘Mega Marathon Day’. If it is anything like last year I was treated to lots of mega scale battles across all the popular game systems currently played, all in air conditioned comfort.

Image

Head to the official announcement thread HERE and get involved in the discussion if you are interested in RPG gaming at TGA. We will be having a chat session about the topic on the day which is great.
