Not really, if they're on target they can still pin it! The thing I'm learning about this game is that while actually killing units is all well and good, pinning them is a lot easier and often just as effective. I was all about putting SMGs on the minions following around my Lt and Air Observer, then I realised that the long range rifle pot shots they can get off and add that one extra pin to a unit is just so much more valuable.

Same with snipers--the can't kill things that easily (especially against vets), but they've got a great chance to put a pin on almost any unit you can see.

Not sure whether to take a tank at 1000 points. I've got a Sherman and it is relatively versatile, but that versatility makes it so-so against both infantry and tanks.

There'll be a few of us there tomorrow.

I didn't manage to paint my infantry + mortar, so it'll be the armoured additions making an appearance.

BREAKING NEWS
We've decided to extend 750 point games another week, so the 1000 point games will start after the two week break Outpost has 17-24 June, and give people time to paint their stuff for 1000 points to start on 1 July.

The US of A did not have a good outing last night, with Mother Russia proving too strong, with the assistance of a wayward USAF fighter bomber.

So many Reds...

This bombed out village looks like a good place to hide...

This Thunderbolt has a problem with churches and US Rangers, or so it would seem.

Lucky/highly skillful anti tank rifle one-shots my greyhound

Marching on to victory...

So Jake won 4-1 in the end.

In other news, zee Germans of Dave were too good for Chris's Italians, but the war correspondent didn't want to get to close. Dave 4 Chris 1.

The Sherman with the 105 mm howitzter can really put a dent in infantry squads but I'd outflank with it otherwise you'll end up plugging away at stuff in hard cover. Standard Shermans are fairly cheap points wise and good alrounders. Just hope the Germans don't bring any heavy AT guns...

New FAQ and errata up, and a big change...
http://warlordgames.com/downloads/pdf/ba-errata.pdf

Veteran tanks now ignore pins from heavy weapons that can't damage them, regulars ignore them half the time and inexperienced still get pinned. Massive nerf for anti-tank rifles!

Also it's been clarified now that snipers ignore the extra protection rule from buildings, so roll to wound on their normal dice roll instead of needing 6s.

That's a huge change. Just read through these myself. The tank rules were a long time coming methinks. It now makes heavy tanks more worthwhile. I can hear the Tigers coming from here ...

I think it's going to change a few things! Suddenly anti-tank guns are going to be a lot more necessary.

Makes US vet tanks really worth it now--immune to minor heavy weapons, and gyro stabilisers.

I am glad they clarified snipers shooting at buildings. I listened to the latest LRDG podcast and said the opposite to what the rule is and they had a pretty good explanation which made me think I had been playing wrong all this time. The tank rules will make the new Tank Battles rule book very interesting. Looking forward to that one.
