I took this from another website by a level 2 judge:

Q: How does Diminish interact with Giant Growth these days?

A: Not too well for the Diminish player! A creature's power and toughness are figured out using a system of layers, and things that set a creature's power and toughness are always applied before things that modify a creature's power and toughness. No matter if Giant Growth was cast before or after Diminish, it'll still give the creature +3/+3, so you can have a 4/4 Giant Diminished Giant Spider.

my question: what happens if I let the giant growth resolve making ??? creature (eg. its a 3/3 so becomes 6/6)... can i then diminish it once the giant growth resolve so that it will be 1/1 or will be be 4/4 ?

Diminish alters the basic state of the creature, i.e. a creature that has p/t of 3/3 printed on the card becomes 1/1 (as in the numbers on the card are changed to 1/1 for the duration of the Diminish effect).

Spells like Giant Growth [+3/+3] (and abilities of cards like Honor of the Pure and Captivating Vampire [+1/+1], etc) and also Stabbing Pain [-1/-1] and the such are effects that affect the base/printed state of the creature (ie that initial 3/3).

Diminish states 1/1, Giant Growth states +3/+3. Diminish makes the base stat 1/1, whereas Giant Growth will merely add +3/+3 to whatever the base stat may be, even if it changes after Giant Growth resolves :)

(I hope that made sense...)

So it will be a 4/4, not 1/1 :)
