Has anyone else out there played this?

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/101721/mage-wars

I had a go with scottp the other day and it is freaking awesome! I'd really like to see a community of ex-magic players play this game...it feels a lot like a WoW arena from back in the day, mixed with magic and summoner wars. I can't recommend it highly enough!

What really got me was how cheap the initial buy in is. $65? and that was enough to make up 4 full decks. I really like the idea of using models instead of cards and now wish I had got in on the Reaper kickstarter lol :)

Exactly what I thought, plus Dreamblade. I've been looking for a good deck building game without the cost associated with Magic.

Miniatures would work so well with this game, and I'll definitely be picking up minis to cover a couple of decks at some point. I'm impatiently waiting to get my own so I can build my uber angel summoning deck!

Don't forget Flikka the Armoured Unicorn.

The spirit of Flicka will live on forever...maybe I should build 2 unicorns into my deck for some double Flicka action!

Our friends over at the D6 Generation podcast just reviewed this. It does sound pretty damn cool.

Yeah, it wasn't Craig's cup of tee...but I usually take Russ' word anyway :P
For a new company, I think they've done a great job with this game.

The cost price for entry is very low for what you get... I fully expect the price to go up next year. It's actually better value buying 2 starter sets than a starter set and the 2 tomes coming out. The thing I really love about this game is the way it fixes the randomness with some card *cough MTG* games. If I need to destroy one of their big bad creatures, then I select the spell I need.

I always know I love a game when after playing it I start thinking of cool things I can do next time with it :)

Looks good. Might have to add it to our boardgame rotation.

Nice! I might actually look at building a proper deck then for next time we play. It's got to be the Warlock for me though... Love me some Demons :)

This is an awesome deck building program :)

I'm undecided about Wizard or Warlock at the moment.
