I spent a lot of time playing Diablo2:LOD back in the day. Lans at a friend's store. Playing with friends. Diablo held a lot of nostalgia for me.
When Diablo3 came out, I purchased it the day it came out.
... and I was so horribly disappointed. This wasn't the game I both hated and loved at the same time. I finished it once with a couple of classes, uninstalled it and shelved it.
When I heard Loot 2.0 was a thing and there was an expansion any day, I thought I'd give it a crack again. So I deleted my chars, started over to really give the patch a chance.
I felt it was a drastic improvement. The action house was gone. Loot 2.0 seems to up drop rates and the items you get are probably going to be for your class. And then along game Reaper of Souls, which adds the Crusader, Act V and Adventure Mode.
I feel like Adventure Mode is exactly what the game needed to make it good. Every waypoint in every act becomes a challenge instead of just pure grind. It changes the map layout and gives you a goal. Then loot and XP worth your time. Been playing Adventure Mode with a friend a bit. Is good.
In about a week or so, I've now got a 61 Monk, 42 Mage and a bunch of lowbies.
End of the day, I feel like Diablo3 is now the game it should have been on release.
