Haha awsome! Mr Mime is one of the better Gen 1 shinies. Most of them are just weird off colours.

I caught a shiny Clauncher the other day with the chain fishing method. I've been spending most of my time Breeding super pokemon.

I now have 2 pokemon with the right natures and abilities, 6 perfect IVs, fully EV trained and at full happiness. Pokemon Master race inbound.

Nice work!

After all the madness of Ultimates I'm now catching up on some serious Pokemon action. Gonna finish the elite 4 this weekend and then get breeding for comp teams. 8)

Yep all my Pokemon are from the NU tier. In saying that although i've bred almost 100+ eggs for each of my pokemon for Perfect IVs my team won't likely be very competitive.

It's quite clear that at a competitive level some pokemon just aren't good enough. Either that or they're typing/abilities/moves rule them out or require drastic team modification. I don't like that. most pokemon find some kind of niche but as an example on of my favourites Kecleon isn;t very good even in it's own tier. The reason i don't take it too seriously in the end is that at a competitive level it reduces the game to a small move pool. Every team needs X type of pokemon to deal with Y kind of threat. That's were it becomes too mechanical for me. It loses it's variety and charm.

Hence me just picking pokemon i like and making them the best they can be on their own.

I very quickly grew tired of fighting the following pokemon online:

- Scizor
- Charizard
- Blaziken
- Gengar
- Lucario
- Salamence

It seems like every team has at least 2 or 3 of these at the moment... yawn

Three times I have mis-read that as chain fisting method... i need more sleep. So any good references for this fishing method??

Aw man what ever happened to breeding pokemon for fun :D

likewise... any web articles? I've been breeding just for random wonder trades but if theres some guidelines to follwo to develop properly "competitive" pkmn I'd be interested.. one has to keep up with the South Korean gamers (yeah.. right.. .I'll never keep pace with those guys)

The fishing chain method is pretty simple:

Get a pokemon with the ability "suction cups" in 1st spot in your team. This enables you to always get a bite.

Then just repetitively fish in the same single spot. This greatly increases the shiny ratio.

Moving from the spot or failing to reel in a bite will break the chain. Running away, catching the pokemon or killing it does not and will continue the chain. People have caught up to 4 shinies in under 30 minutes with this method, so it does cheapen it a little.

As for breeding this guide is probably the best:

http://au.ign.com/wikis/pokemon-x-y/How ... om_Scratch

Be warned it's a very lengthy process and requires many hoops to be jumped through before you can start breeding.

You can also do the same thing with the pokeradar.

Find a largish patch of grass and have a decent number of super repels.

Hit the pokeradar and watch for the shaking grass. Take note of the type of shaking grass (it will either be quick or slower)

Then battle the Pokemon in the shaking grass. If its a Pokemon you want beat it then when you come out more grass will shake. The trick is to go into another shaking grass that shakes the same way as the original shaking grass, at least 4 squares from where you are. If you do it right you will verse the same Pokemon. Beat it and when you come out more grass should shake.

If you chain the same Pokemon roughly 40ish times you have a chance of getting a shaking grass that sparkles. If you go into that grass then you should verse a shiny version of that Pokemon.

You gotta be careful about breaking the chain though.

pokeradar chaining is much much harder then fishing chaining in my experience. I've gotten 3 shinies from fishing chains in the space of maybe two hours, compared to trying my hardest at radar chaining for like 8 hours with no luck.

I know you aren't taking them for competitive reasons though Matt, but because you like them, which is the right reason. Just so happens that tons of competitive people online at the moment also have those same pokemon.
