The new 2014 Pokemon Video Game Tournament Format has just been released!

Interesting that this year's competitive format restricts the pool to only Kalos native Pokémon in teams (ie those found in X and Y). Shakes up the metagame a bit and is great for the newer players that don't have easy access to the expanded catalogue. I'm definitely keen to jump in for some events in the coming months!

Finally managed to get a copy of the game today.

It's very good so far.

For those breeders out there who are chasing perfect ivs and aren't aware, equipping the destiny knot allows you to pass down 5ivs instead of the standard 3.

It's also worth noting that the IV's passed down are drawn from both parents so you can still on occasion get a dud pokemon even with a destiny knot. Alternatively Power items (power brace etc) can be used to pass down the corresponding single stat, in this case the baby will inherit the parent's attack stat.

The trick is to continue breeding more and more pokemon with the right IVs so that you slowly weed out the stats that aren't perfect thus increasing the chance of the destiny knot drawing from 5 good stats

If you reach the point where you have two parents with 5 perfect IV's and you really want the 6th like i did, then the parents have a 1/192 chance of making a baby that has 6 perfect IVs (that statistic may need to be checked)

just started playing with Black 2. this is the first time I have played pokemon. seems alright, but magnemite (with Leftovers) makes it seem like easy mode...

honestly magnemite (with Leftovers) soloed his way through the third gym without needing a rest or potions etc, only needed to swap out for flaaffy and magby in the final with gym leader guy....

started with snivy but he seemed rubbish so is sitting in the box....
