Many of you would have seen the completed green of Mutton McGee, the 2014 Southern Shrike Bowl MVP.

Image

Mutton is cast in Trollforged resin and comes with 2 'normal' arms, as well as a Claw arm and a Tentacles Arm.

Mutton is a player gift for everyone attending SSB 2015. In addition, he is able to be taken as a Star Player on any team at SSB this year. Yes, you heard right, every single player attending SSB 2015 will receive a big guy mini as just one of their player gifts (yep, there are also other gifts in addition to the Ogre).

The Ogre mini will be sold by Impact Miniatures after the tournament in August, but between now and August, you can buy the Ogre directly through me.

Mutton McGee is available for anyone to buy right now for $25. See Graeme AKA StoneColdSpider at Sandgroper Cup to buy one.

If you purchase a ticket to SSB 2015 and have already bought a Mutton McGee mini, that $25 will be taken off your ticket price. So for those attending SSB 2015, the Ogre is free.

If you want to buy the Ogre now, but won't be coming to SSB 2015, that's fine too. There's no need to pretend that you're coming or anything like that. Anyone in Australia or NZ can still buy a copy from me.

However, you will be paying a premium for the mini. His cost via Impact Miniatures will likely be around $15 AUD. So if you don't attend SSB, you are paying a $10 premium to get the mini a few months earlier than the rest of the world. That said, you're also helping to support SSB, so I thank you for that! :D

Whilst StoneColdSpider will be selling the Ogre mini for me at Sandgroper, you can reserve your copy by either posting below or send me a PM.

I'll also give StoneColdSpider a few Vladamir tha Bull, Chaos Pact Minotaur and Mallus, Dark Elf Renegade minis to sell if anyone missed them from previous years.

Vlad will cost $15 and Mallus will cost $10. Like the Ogre, both these minis are cast in Trollcast resin. See pics below.

Some people have mentioned in the past about having trouble painting the SSB MVP minis cast in Trollcast. Last year I myself had trouble getting paint to stick to the Dark Elf mini. I wrote to Tom at Impact! Miniatures about the problem and he suggested this advice to help paint stick to the minis, which he got from the Reaper Miniatures forum:
Quote:
Here is the write-up on the best way to paint the minis:

Anyway, to review for those who missed it in the kickstarter forum: In an effort to get a smooth coat of paint on these minis that will actually stay put, I have tried a number of detergents to remove the mold release and a number of primers to get one that will actually grab the resin and hang on. summarizing my work:

washing the miniatures is required for anything to stick, and I have used Dawn dish soap with success. (our "natural" dish soap didn't have much luck getting the mold release off.) After discussing with other painters, any dish soap with a degreaser in it will take care of any mold release left on the figure.
1) paint on primers don't work. I have tried reaper and GW
2) Acrylic primers don't stick (I have tried Rustoleum and Krylon for plastic)
3) What does work? (the list below):
Rust-oleum Self Etching Prime
Tamiya Fine Surface Primer
Duplicolor Sandable Primer
Krylon Primer for metal and plastic

All of these 4 paints have a self-etching element which bonds with the surface of the figure. The first 2 (i.e. paint on primers and acrylic primers) will pull away and bead up on the mini. You can force them to make a smooth coat by repeated applications but it will be like a skin on the miniature that you can literally peel off in sheets later.

So give the above advice a try if you are having trouble painting minis made out of Trollcast material.
