First of all, I would like to say a big thankyou for everyone who got involved in the WAFFL Open for the first season. It has been fun to watch the teams progress, and great to see people organise a couple of games on the same day. I hope more people get involved in Season 2, or the remains of Season 1, as there is still time left.

I am now in a position to announce the time and location for the WAFFL Open Finals for Season One. The cut off for minor rounds will be Monday the 25th of April (ANZAC Day). Any game in the system that has not been played by this date will be deleted, so there is still quite a bit of time left.

From here, we will work out the finalists, who will be invited to play in the finals on Sunday the 22nd of May. The location is Northern Gamers, situated in the Main Hall of Robert Thompson Reserve, Weatherill Way, Noranda. Entry fees will apply, so make sure you bring your $2. As the finalists confirm their attendance, we will update the post.
There will be quarter finals, semi finals and then the grand final and third place playoff. This means you will have the potential to play three games on the one day (so it might be advantageous to bring a couple of copies of your team roster).

I will be speaking to the person responsible for opening Northern Gamers, and trying to extend the hours to that there will be time enough for the games. But there are drinks available, as well as food options across the road, which include two supermarkets and various take away options.

Season 2 will officially launch on the 1st of June, so there will be a small gap between seasons, and we are currently looking at options for divisions based on team value, although this may be more of a season 3 offering, we don’t know just yet. Also, Season 2 finals are scheduled to be held in Albany in 2017 – so a road trip worth looking forward to. There will be more information coming, please be sure to check back.

Kind Regards,
Ratt

great news and I like the idea of the season 2 finals to be held in Albany! Another excuse to raid the deep south of the state :)

Good to know we have an end date to work towards now and can really ramp up our preparations if we wish.

I also love the idea of having the season 2 final in Albany, it is always good getting down there and I would love to see how well those guys go in league play compared to tournament play.

Can I seek some clarification on what will happen if a coach has multiple teams do well enough to be in a position to make the finals if the situation was to arise. Will the coach be given a choice of which team they want to take to the finals (if they are available to attend) or will it be a case of they must take the team that ranked the best for them?

The way it will work is we will offer invites to the teams that finish the highest spots (for season one it will be overall) first. If a coach wishes to, they may decline with a team and then accept the invitation later with another team (should they qualify).

Just a reminder that the last chance for games is this Monday 25th April (ANZAC Day). After that we will be sorting out finalists.

It is with great disappointment that my sporting roster came out 4 weeks ago and has me playing on the 22nd. As a result I am unable to take my unbeaten Humans (outlaws) into a finals campaign.

I hope you all enjoy the finals and may the next best team win
