Just in case this is missed, Mantic has started a kickstarter campaign for Warpath. People seems to put a lot of hope for this one, from reading posts in mantic forum.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/17 ... attle-game

Warpath is the sci-fi gaming system where two opposing forces of 28mm-scale miniatures do battle in the warzones of the far future.

There are two sets of rules for Warpath. Which you choose depends on your style of play – you may prefer one over the other, or link both sets together in a campaign. The choice is yours!

Warpath is the mass-combat strategy game that allows you to play massive sci-fi battles on the tabletop, quickly and affordably. Using Warpath’s innovative Orders system, you’ll command an army of infantry, elite specialists and hi-tech vehicles, in a dynamic game of strategy and tactics.

Warpath: Firefight is the squad-level battle game where every soldier matters. With an emphasis on cinematic battles between as few as 30 soldiers a side, the game is designed to zoom in on the action, with a focus on dynamic, tactical games, whilst retaining Mantic’s game design philosophy of being easy to learn and fast paced. Ideal if you are looking for an alternative to other games on the market.

Well 40k lost me about two years ago (I just couldn't keep up with the new books/rules), so I'm definitely interested to see how this turns out.

The big plus here is that I've already got a bunch of minis from the Deadzone Kickstarter, so it shouldn't take much for me to expand them into a full army. ;)

If I can get a forgefather army... I am totally in on this! I love those models...

Another Mantic kickstarter......another crazy itch I just have to scratch!

I also have a little bit of Deadzone joy awaiting glue/paint so will certainly be jumping in for the rules at least (and maybe a few Jet Bikes and Corporation heroes as well depending on what other stretch goals are unlocked). I can now see my humungus Tau army dusting itself off to join the mighty ranks of the Corporation's Enforcers (and the dust is thick and crusted on my poor, poor Tau after many years of neglect). I am really glad that Mantic are releasing two rules sets, one for skirmish and one for massed battle, which I hope will mean I can multi-base (with magnets) for the massed battle game.

So, is anyone pledging on this? I can't justify getting ANOTHER system that I will probably not play much... but I want some Forgefathers.

So, you know, if anyone is pledging, I would like to make that person my friend and help pay for their shipping... along with my Forgefather battlegroup...

I'm very tempted to go in on a Plague force to complement what I've got for Deadzone... Just need to find the money. :\

I'm still on-hold on which faction I'll go, if I have the time for another army/ruleset ;).

Afaik they have the Corporations, Forge Fathers, Enforcers, Plague, Asterians (space elf?), Rebels (hodgepodge of humans and aliens), and Marauders (orks orcs orogs orx), and Veer-myn (space rats!!).

I'm leaning toward the Marauders cause I'm sick of playing for good/order, and have a box of Marauder grunts at home. Having said that...there's a rumor in Mantic forum about the Marauders getting a revamp. Hopefully towards something better :)

In case no one's seen it yet, a picture of Asterian troop transport (from here)

Edited: forgot the space rats faction; thanks Pete!

If I get in on this Kickstarter it will probably be in the last few days (and after I receive my KoW 2 goodies, which I am still waiting for patiently, very patiently). I don't think I'll be going in for any new mini's but that may change depending upon what they unlock in stretch goals. Anyway, if I do end up jumping in I'm happy to share postage if that works in with others plans.

If you went in not for the minis... what would you be looking for? I can see a possible potential joint project coming...

I'm thinking of getting a copy of the new rules and maybe some Enforcer add on's like the Sergeant dude and maybe some Jet Bikes (and whatever else gets added for Enforcers as the funding frenzy develops). I've got enough Enforcer pongos from Dead Zone I think and can probably supplement these with Tau Fire Warriors (plus a bunch of other Tau riff raff that should proxy across OK). I'll make a call on this by about 7 October and decide whether to kick the starter button at that point so will keep you posted Mikey.

hmm I wonder if Mantic will be looking to perform another coup with 40k. (the first being with kings of war/warhammer fantasy)

the Warpath:firefight looks interesting. Warpath itself doesnt sound as appetizing sue to the size. will remain to be seen in the ruleset. if they nail it as far as gameplay goes, you may see a lot of converts.

I hope they dont do alternating activations like some people are saying though...

The two latest ones (Warpath kickstarter and Gates of Antares starter set) seem to be an attempt to topple 40K from the top sci-fi/fantasy throne; or at least use the momentum from people worried about 40K getting AoS-treatment in the future.

Cool cool. I just figure if you want some stuff but not the minis - assuming the numbers are amenable to you we could split a basic pledge. I want a heap of the Forgefather stuff to represent my Inquisitorial Marine army, but don't want the rules, etc...

As you said, I suspect it depends on what gets added as stretch goals. Although given current pledge levels, I expect great things. 8)
